What is a node in blockchain?

Last reviewed:

A node is a computer that runs a blockchain's software and keeps a copy of its record. Nodes check that new transactions and blocks follow the rules and share them with other nodes. A full node stores the whole history. On proof-of-stake networks, validator nodes also help add new blocks. More independent nodes make a network harder to control.
