Methodology
How we work
Every page here follows the same five steps. This is how you can check our work.
The five steps
- Start from a beginner question. We write for someone who has never owned crypto. If a page needs jargon, it explains it on the spot or links to the glossary.
- Source it from the primary record. Laws come from government sites (Income Tax Department, RBI, SEBI, FIU-IND, IRS, SEC, CFTC, FinCEN, Congress.gov). Technology comes from the original white papers, protocol docs and standards. News headlines link to the outlet that reported them.
- Write it plainly. Short sentences. One idea per paragraph. No hype, no predictions and no 'guaranteed' anything.
- Review before publishing. Each page is checked against its sources, for accuracy, spelling and tone, and is stamped with a 'Reviewed' date. Joshua Baskin, the founder, approves every page.
- Correct in public. If we get something wrong, we fix it and log it on the corrections page with the date.
Rules we never break
- Education only. We do not pick coins, give buy or sell calls, or promise returns.
- No paid placements, no sponsored lessons and no affiliate links inside lessons.
- Laws and tax pages say what the official text says, link to it, and show the date we checked it.
- Political coverage reports public votes and statements with sources. We do not endorse candidates or parties.
- Translations are reviewed, and each translated lesson says which English version it follows.
Where our sources come from
- India: incometax.gov.in, rbi.org.in, sebi.gov.in, fiuindia.gov.in, pib.gov.in, cybercrime.gov.in.
- United States: irs.gov, sec.gov, cftc.gov, fincen.gov, congress.gov, ic3.gov.
- Technology: the Bitcoin white paper, ethereum.org, Bitcoin Improvement Proposals (BIPs) and Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs).
- Market data: CoinGecko, shown with the time it was fetched. Prices are there for context and literacy, not signals.
