How does blockchain work?

Last reviewed:

A blockchain works in a loop. People send transactions to the network. Computers called nodes check that each one follows the rules. A miner or validator bundles checked transactions into a block and links it to the block before it with a code called a hash. Every node updates its copy, so the record stays the same everywhere.
