How does crypto have value?

Crypto has value only because people are willing to trade something for it. Some value comes from use, like paying fees on a network or sending money across borders. Some comes from limited supply. Much of it comes from belief and demand, which can change fast. Unlike a dollar, most crypto has no government backing it.
