What is market cap in crypto?

Last reviewed:

Market cap, short for market capitalization, is a rough size measure for a crypto asset. It is the current price of one coin multiplied by the number of coins in circulation. A big market cap does not mean an asset is safe, and a small one does not mean it is cheap. It can change quickly when prices move.
