What is tokenomics?

Last reviewed:

Tokenomics means the economics of a token: how many exist, how new ones are created, who holds them and when they can be sold. It also covers what the token is used for. A project where insiders hold most of the supply, or where many new tokens unlock later, carries different risks than one with a fixed, widely spread supply.
