Is Bitcoin traceable?

Last reviewed:

Bitcoin is traceable. Every transaction is saved forever on a public blockchain that anyone can read. Addresses do not show names, but companies and investigators use analysis tools to link addresses to people, often through exchanges that verify identity. Law enforcement has used this record to trace stolen and scam funds.
