Is Bitcoin anonymous?

Bitcoin is not anonymous; it is pseudonymous. Your address is not your name, but every payment to and from it is public forever. Once an address is linked to you, often through an exchange that checked your ID, your history can be traced. That is why Bitcoin offers far less privacy than many people believe.
