How to choose a crypto exchange
The safety checks to make before you sign up to any crypto exchange: registration, fees, proof of reserves, withdrawals.
Short answer
Pick an exchange that is registered where you live, shows its fees clearly, publishes proof of reserves, and lets you withdraw to your own wallet. Never pick one from an ad or a stranger's link.
Common questions
How do I check registration?
India: FIU-IND's registered list. US: FinCEN's MSB search and your state regulator.
What is proof of reserves?
A report showing the exchange holds customers' coins. It helps, but it is not a full audit.
What happens if the exchange fails?
Customer funds can be frozen for years, as in the FTX case.
Do you recommend exchanges?
No. We teach the checks and do not take affiliate money.
