What is crypto?

Crypto is the short name for cryptocurrency: digital money that lives on a blockchain instead of in a bank account. People also use "crypto" to mean the whole world around it, including tokens, wallets, exchanges and apps. The name comes from cryptography, the math that locks and signs each payment so only the owner can move it.
