What is a bear market in crypto?

Last reviewed:

A bear market is a long period when prices fall and people feel pessimistic. In stocks, it often means a drop of 20 percent or more from a recent high. Crypto bear markets can be much deeper and last a year or more. The opposite, when prices rise for a long time, is called a bull market.
