What does HODL mean?

HODL is crypto slang for holding on to crypto instead of selling, even when prices fall. It started as a typo of "hold" in a 2013 online forum post and later became a backronym for "hold on for dear life." It is a meme, not a strategy or a promise. Holding does not protect you from losses.
